THOUGHTFUL SOURCING

Every Aloka & Sol piece begins with a garment, textile, or material that has already lived a life.

Many of these pieces are well-made garments, often in natural fibres, with beautiful weaves and thoughtfully constructed textiles that might otherwise be overlooked or discarded due to marks, imperfections, or signs of wear.

Rather than viewing these imperfections as the end of a garment's story, I see them as the beginning of a new chapter.

Each piece is selected for the quality of its fabric, the integrity of its construction, and the potential hidden within it.

Many of the textiles I work with are made well enough to have years of life left, yet are overlooked because of a small stain, a minor flaw, or simply changing tastes.

Fibre and fabric quality will vary from piece to piece. Each listing states the fabric composition and describes any wear, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Rather than creating something from new materials, I work with what already exists. Through dye, pattern, and transformation, these textiles begin a second life while retaining traces of the first.

No two source materials are the same, which means every finished piece carries its own history, character, and individuality.
